How Much time will the Course Take?
For planning purposes, anticipate 60-90 minutes of coursework per week, plus an additional 60-90 minutes for assignments.
The optional "Office Hours" call will last 45-60 minutes and expands upon the weekly lesson and offers an opportunity for live Q&A and critique.
This call happens Thursday at 2 p.m. Eastern/11 a.m. Pacific during the 6 weeks of the course. It is recorded for those who may be unable to attend. This call is not required for course success, but will enhance your experience.
What sort of Camera do I need?
Some of the material on composition, lighting, styling and export will apply to all cameras, including point and shoot and camera phones.
To get the maximum benefit of the course, I recommend having a DSLR camera. If you can change your lens, you have a DSLR. All DLSRs, from basic to professional models, have similar functionality and have settings that allow for complete creative control. We will explore these settings in depth in week 2.
If you do not have a DLSR, I recommend borrowing one from a friend or investing in an entry level model. Here's a blog post on Choosing a Camera for Food Photography
What Software Do I Need?
My editing and export platform of choice is Adobe Lightroom and we will use this simple, powerful program for the editing and export section. Your camera software will include tools to do most of the same edits, but you'll need to learn your particular software if you choose not to work with Lightroom.
There is a 30 day free trial which you can use during the course. Afterwards, you can purchase the software for about $200 or do a month-to-month for $19.99, using only during the months when you need it! There is also an annual plan which includes both Lighroom and Photoshop for $9.99/month - a screaming deal - but you have to commit to a year. (P.S. I am not an affiliate and do not receive commissions...I just really love the functionality of this program!)

Choose the best time for you to take part. Once you enroll, you will have access to course materials at any time. You will also be alerted to new or upgraded modules as they are released.
You can save your spot and pre-register for the June or September course and pay in installments with a $49 deposit.
